Speech at National Taiwan University

On 13-18th of March Mr. President Aleksander Kwaśniewski made a visit to Taipei, at the invitation of David Y.L.Lin, ROC Minister of Foreign Affairs. Former President of Poland was accompanied by Dr. Ireneusz Bil – Director of Amicus Europae Foundation. During His stay, President met with H.E. President-elect Tsai Ing-wen, Vice President Wu Den-yih and Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs Cho Shih-chao, as well as many think – thanks’ representatives.

Aleksander Kwaśniewski also delivered a speech at National Taiwan University under the title “A Regional Power in International Organizations: The Case of Poland in The EU and it’s implication for Taiwan”. The essence of the lecture was to bring up the Polish experience of political transformation, the analysis of the benefits of the integration and Poland’s profits and obligations under the membership in international organizations. The address at the University not only was an interesting expertise for its students, but also for the Taiwan authorities.

Aside from the educational part, the trip also had an cultural dimension. Mr. President visited Yangmingshan National Park, the National Palace Museum, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, and Shilin Night Market.
