Conference “Responsibility and development - a new agenda for Europe and the world”.

On the 25th of April Amicus Europae Foundation of Aleksander Kwaśniewski and Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) together with Club the Madrid, organized the conference “Responsibility and development - a new agenda for Europe and the world”

During the conference, Declaration of the Lamy's group has been presented “Prioritise People and Planet: A New Global Agenda for Progress".

The conference has gathered distinguished group of guests including Pascal Lamy -in 1999-2004, member of the European Commission for Trade,Director-General of the WTO - World Trade Organization (2005-2013); Alfred Gusenbauer - Chancellor of Austria in 2007-2008, FEPS Next Left research program; Tone Rop - Prime Minister of Slovenia in 2002-2004, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank; Marek Belka - President of the National Bank of Poland (2010-2016), Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland in 2004-2005, Yves Leterme - Prime Minister of Belgium (2008, 2009-2011) and Aleksander Kwaśniewski - President of the Republic of Poland in 1995-2005

Panelists discussed contemporary challenges for Europe and the world. The report by Joseph R. Stiglitz has been presented “Rewriting the rules of the European economy”

The process of joining the Euro zone has potentially many political and economic benefits, but involves certain risks and is unpopular among the Polish population. As the final discussion, Participants seek answers how to maximize benefits, reduce risks and at the same time convince Poles to become full members of the Economic and Monetary Union.
