ECTR statement

The European Council on Tolerance and Reconciliation is deeply shaken by the last act of terrorism that was committed in France. The ECTR expresses its highest condemnation for the perpetrators of this crime, the sources of their inspiration and motivation.

This crime tends to incite fear, mistrust and hatred between the various ethnic and religious groups in Europe. It is an act directed against mutual tolerance and friendly co-existence, the basis of European societies and European integration.

As an organization acting in favor of reconciliation and tolerance in Europe, we call on all citizens of united Europe for solidarity and mutual support in these difficult times.

We hope that the perpetrators of this crime will be quickly identified by the appropriate national authorities, and the motives of their actions are disclosed to the public.
